New Unli-Mobile Data Plan, First for NZ Users

Auckland, 26 July 2022: MyRepublic, the award-winning broadband provider, today announced the launch of a new mobile service in New Zealand. Entering the market as the new kid on the block, MyRepublic will disrupt the competition by offering kiwis truly unlimited mobile data for the first time, with plans based on speed.

The new service solves a major problem many kiwi mobile customers face – a concern about how much data they are using. Rather than worry about how much data they consume, MyRepublic customers will have freedom on how and when they use the internet on their phones, and will just need to choose their preferred speed. There is no cap on the data.

MyRepublic Truly Unlimited Mobile Plans, At The Speed You Need

MyRepublic will offer three simple mobile plans: Rocket Lite, Rocket and Rocket Max distinguished only by the speed of the plan measured in megabits per second (Mbps). In simple terms the higher the Mbps number the faster the speed, and more importantly, the faster and smoother things happen. Plans start from just $60 per month, with an introductory $20 off for the first three months.

The mobile plans are initially exclusively available to MyRepublic broadband customers and will be available to all New Zealanders from August. MyRepublic is competing against the three Mobile Network Operators, which combined have a 98 percent market share.

Yap Yong Teck, President, MyRepublic, said: “This exciting adventure, offering New Zealanders peace of mind and more freedom in how they use their mobiles, complements our overall business strategy of bringing next-generation technologies to markets across Asia Pacific. Our new service will be a foundation for our business as we grow and invest in the MyRepublic business in New Zealand.”

Matt Lindsay, Country Manager, MyRepublic said: “We don’t think of data as a ‘luxury’ – it is a necessity and critical to our daily lives. For too long kiwis have faced needlessly complicated mobile plans and prices.”

“The future of mobile is clear: customers shouldn’t have to worry about how much data they’re using. Instead, they should only think about how they use their mobile device and pay for the service that matches their needs. We’re passionate about offering our customers a service that fits with how they live and work.”

The three new MyRepublic plans include Unlimited Talk and Text to New Zealand and Australia. All charges are month on month, meaning there are no 28 day renewal cycles.

Announcement of new partnership with Vodafone

MyRepublic will operate as a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), proudly leveraging Vodafone’s award-winning Smart Network. Vodafone scored the highest overall for data and voice call quality in an independent certification report conducted by the global leader in mobile benchmarking umlaut, now part of Accenture, in March 2022.

Matt Lindsay, Country Manager, MyRepublic said “Leveraging Vodafone’s robust and reliable network means MyRepublic will have 98.5 percent population coverage from day one, delivering connection right across the country.”

Tony Baird, Wholesale & Infrastructure Director, Vodafone said: “We’re proud to be MyRepublic’s partner of choice, powering their offering with our world-class MVNO solution and enabling a more connected, more awesome Aotearoa for years to come.”

MyRepublic Award-Winning broadband

MyRepublic has a short, but monumental history in Aotearoa. Arriving here in 2014, it was the first provider to launch 100Mbps fibre plans to the market. In 2017, it was the first to launch an Unlimited Gigabit per second service nationwide. Underpinning these achievements is the recognition of ‘New Zealand’s fastest Fixed Broadband provider’ by Global Speedtest platform, Ookla – four years running. The new venture into mobile offerings is founded on these same principles of unlimited data, flexibility and coverage.
