Gamescom 2026: Biggest Games, Announcements & What Singapore Gamers Should Know

gamescom 2026 is officially live in Cologne, Germany.

Clear some space on that wishlist. Gamescom 2026 is officially underway, bringing another avalanche of game reveals, trailers, release dates and reasons to question whether we’ll ever finish our existing backlog.

Held in Cologne, Germany, gamescom runs from 26 to 30 August 2026, following Opening Night Live on 25 August. And while most of us in Singapore aren’t casually popping over to Cologne for the weekend, there’s still plenty to follow from home.

From The Witcher 3 somehow giving us another reason to return to Geralt’s boots to Final Fantasy VII, Gears of War and plenty of surprises, here’s what Singapore gamers should know about gamescom 2026.

What Is Gamescom 2026?

Gamescom is one of the biggest events on the gaming calendar, bringing publishers, developers, hardware brands and most importantly, a lot of games together in one place.

The main event takes place from 26 to 30 August, with 26 August serving as the trade visitor and media day before the entertainment areas fully open to the public.

Before all that comes gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, which took place last night. Think of it as the starting gun: a showcase packed with new trailers, gameplay, release dates and world premieres.

And 2026 certainly gave us plenty to add to the wishlist.

The Biggest Games at gamescom 2026

There are hundreds of games associated with gamescom this year, so unless your Steam wishlist has infinite storage, you’ll probably want to narrow things down.

Here are some of the bigger names we’re keeping an eye on.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past

Yes, you read that correctly. We’re talking about The Witcher 3 in 2026.

CD PROJEKT RED revealed more of Songs of the Past, a new full expansion that sends Geralt to a new region with a fresh story, monsters and weapons.

For anyone who has already sunk hundreds of hours into The Witcher 3, congratulations: apparently we’re not done yet.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation

Square Enix brought another look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation, continuing one of gaming’s biggest remake projects.

With more battles, familiar faces and the increasingly enormous scale we’ve come to expect from the remake series, this is one to watch as it heads towards its planned Spring 2027 release.

Cloud’s problems, it seems, are still very much our problems.

Gears of War: E-Day

Xbox also brought Gears of War: E-Day to the show, taking the series back to the beginning of the Locust invasion.

For longtime Gears fans, the appeal is obvious: Marcus Fenix, Dom Santiago and lots of things that probably won’t react well to a Lancer.

Halo: Campaign Evolved

Another familiar name appearing at gamescom is Halo: Campaign Evolved.

The return to one of gaming’s most recognisable sci-fi shooters makes this an especially interesting one for Xbox and PC players — and another excuse for veteran Halo players to tell everyone how good LAN parties used to be.

Persona 4 Revival

Atlus is also bringing Persona 4 Revival, giving another beloved RPG the modern treatment.

If you’ve somehow managed to avoid becoming emotionally attached to a group of fictional Japanese teenagers for 80 hours, Persona would like another opportunity.

Alien: Isolation 2

Few games have made hiding inside a locker quite as stressful as Alien: Isolation, so naturally we’re interested in its sequel.

Alien: Isolation 2 is among the games featured at gamescom 2026, bringing the survival horror series back for anyone who thought their resting heart rate was getting a little too comfortable.

CONTROL Resonant

Remedy’s CONTROL Resonant is another standout on the official gamescom line-up.

Given the studio’s talent for combining strange worlds, supernatural storytelling and the occasional moment where you wonder what on earth is happening, we’re expecting another very normal day at the office.

The Biggest Gamescom 2026 Announcements So Far

Opening Night Live wasn’t just about games we already knew were coming.

One of the more unexpected reveals came from HoYoverse with Nodus Fall, a darker-looking co-op action title that’s noticeably different from the colourful worlds associated with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

We also got a release date for sci-fi RPG Exodus, which is now scheduled for 7 April 2027, alongside the first gameplay reveal for Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons.

Then there’s The Witcher 3. Because apparently one new expansion wasn’t enough news involving an eleven-year-old game.

Alongside Songs of the Past, Opening Night Live also brought news of The Witcher 3: Remastered, with upgrades to visuals, combat and other parts of the experience.

At this rate, our backlog isn’t a backlog anymore. It’s a retirement plan.

How to Follow Gamescom 2026 From Singapore

You don’t need a flight to Germany to keep up with the show.

Gamescom and participating publishers are streaming coverage online throughout the event, including trailers, interviews, game previews and developer presentations.

The only catch for Singapore gamers is, naturally, time zones.

Cologne is six hours behind Singapore during the event, so evening shows in Germany can easily become late-night viewing here. If you’re planning to follow publisher showcases live, check the Singapore start time before promising yourself an early night.

Otherwise, there is absolutely no shame in waking up the next morning and watching everything at a civilised hour. The trailers will still be there.

What else are we watching for in gamescom 2026?

Opening Night Live may be over, but gamescom 2026 has only just begun.

The event continues until 30 August, with playable demos, publisher presentations, developer interviews, esports activities and the gamescom awards still to come.

Xbox in particular has a sizeable presence this year, with games including Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Alien: Isolation 2 and more appearing as part of its gamescom plans.

And with hundreds of games represented across the event, some of the most interesting discoveries may not be the giant AAA releases at all.

Keep an eye on the indies. Your next 200-hour obsession may currently be sitting in a booth you’ve never heard of.

GG, Back to the Backlog

Gamescom 2026 has barely started and we’ve already got new games, returning franchises, release dates and yet another reason to reinstall The Witcher 3.

For Singapore gamers, the next few days should bring even more trailers, gameplay and announcements as the show continues in Cologne.

We’ll be keeping an eye on what comes next.

In the meantime, maybe finish one of the games already sitting in your library.

Yeah. We don’t believe us either.
